Collection: Resources

Sounds-Write decodable readers are designed to be used in conjunction with the Sounds-Write program, but can be used to support reading and spelling practice with any students.

They provide reading material (stories and non-fiction text) that closely matches the sounds and letters that students have learnt at each stage of the Sounds-Write program. This means student have the skills and knowledge they need to read every word in the book, without guessing!

This helps them to build their trust in the alphabetic system and also build their confidence and fluency as readers. Decodable texts can gradually be phased out as children become more proficient readers.

Decodable readers can also a great resource for fluency practice and writing to dictation.
